From the seven-member Board of Directors to the Standing and Disappearing Task Force (DTF) Committees to the small yet enhancing single projects, creating and maintaining a happy neighborhood is a team effort.

BOARD and STANDING COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITIES

Board of Directors

Seven BOA governing members serve two years in staggered terms. There are four Officers and three Member at Large. Positions are filled by Homeowner elections during the Annual Meeting held in March. Four Director posts are replaced in odd numbered year. Three Director posts are replaced in odd numbered year. The Officer positions are determined collectively by the new Board members after the Annual Meeting. New Board members do not necessarily fulfill the same role as was the outgoing Board member.

Architectural Control Committee (ACC) 

The ACC oversees the exterior upkeep of the neighborhood homes, primarily painting and fence replacement. This committee usually meets as needed rather than monthly. Summer is the more active time for ACC activity.

Landscape Committee (LC)

The Landscape Committee oversees Bridlewood’s contracted landscape company activities and reviews Homeowner requests for landscape changes. Maintenance, enhancements, irrigation and the tree projects are all under the LC umbrella. It is a year around committee, with the winter months focused on planning and long term landscape needs. The Committee has a core team of three. If you have an interest in joining the landscape committee, please email Landscape.

Community Development (ComDev) Help Wanted!

Community Development is a new committee created in late 2022 in response to an all homeowners meeting called Building the Future. Its primary goal is to connect-the-dots between homeowners and the BOA as an entity. (Because homeowners are the BOA!) The newest communication channel being built comes in the form of this website. Additionally, Community Development oversees the calendar for events in neighborhood and beyond, and supports the volunteer programs and creates opportunities for neighbor initiated social connections. The committee has a few core members, but we welcome more. Also see Skilled Projects for specific Community Development volunteer needs.

Parking Committee

The Parking Enforcement Committee arose after many years of neighbor complaints regarding cars parking in the wrong place or too many cars overflowing on streets. In 2022, a Disappearing Task Force was formed to review the CCRs and re-establish an updated working Parking Policy and Procedures to address parking concerns. With the policies back in place, the task force was dismissed and now a small committee carries out the compliance procedures. If you have questions , email Parking.

Finance Committee Help Wanted!

The Treasurer seeks a standing Finance Committee to support BOA Board of Directors fiscal responsibilities and accountability to homeowners.

DISAPPEARING TASK FORCE OPPORTUNITIES

A Disappearing Task Force (DTF) is a temporary committee created by the Board of Directors to study, advise or develop an appropriate response to particular needs. Watch for the changing opportunities here. Participating on a DTF is a great way to get involved in short term volunteer service at Bridlewood. These sub-committees may be only one or two meetings, or ongoing for a few months. DTFs meet until the compilation of information is completed and turned over to the Board for final action. Either way, you will make a difference. 

Review CC&Rs Task Force. Help needed now. It is time! Changes in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) instated January, 2026 warrants the need to align our CC&Rs to state requirements.   The Board of Directors is considering to establish a DTF on CC&Rs to revise, update or affirm as needed. After 22+ years, the CC&Rs don’t always align with current policies. This would be completed along with advice from the Association lawyer and Standing Committee practices and goals.

Parking Policies and Procedures. Completed Jan 2023- Thank you!

This group is tasked to review the CCRs and re-establish parking policies and procedures for Bridlewood.

Playground Equipment Replacement. Completed Oct 2022- Thank you!

It’s time to replace the outmoded and unsafe playground climbing toy. Families and end-users needed to pick out the design that will last for years to come.

SOCIAL and EVENT OPPORTUNITIES

This section is all about you!

Have you wanted to meet with others for a particular activity or goal? Would like to share a passion? Start up a special event? Set up a table at the playground to share?

Don’t wait. Get it going! Here’s some idea starters:

  • Summer Workshops: Bike repair, back yard garden open house tour, progressive dinner.
  • Jigsaw Puzzle exchange
  • Family friendly kickball or t-ball.
  • Kids want an annual or monthly neighborhood lemonade or craft stand?
  • Set up Bridlewood participation the national Night Out in August
  • Walking group

SKILLED and SINGLE PROJECTS

Sometimes we just need one little task or one particular skill to get things done. Maybe what we need is easy for you – something you can do with your eyes closed!

Here’s our current wish list:

  • CAN-do. Help prepare the playground trash liner for LeMay Refuse pick up on Mondays and make sure to reline on Tuesday. Dog walkers are encouraged to apply. 
  • Community Development seeks help on the website! Divide and conquer:
  • If you like web design and organization, . WordPress knowledge appreciated or willing to learn.
  • Love to write? Good editor? Newsletters and website blog support wanted – articles, proof reading. 
  • Got an eye for art and photography? Need images modified for the website articles and pages. Take photos and edit to size.
  • Calendar of events – in the ‘hood and around the town. Your attention to local activities can keep us in the know. 
  • The Bulletin Board needs a dedicated monitor. Design, upkeep and remove outdated info. Usually attended just once or twice a month at most. 
  • Events:
  • National Night Out. Annual August event. Contact Community Development Committee.
  • On call, as needed… Help distribute notices or newsletters to homeowner doors.
  • Color spots. Like to garden? Help with seasonal landscape projects such as annual planting as needed.

Bridlewood Volunteer Application

Bridlewood Homeowners' Association is overseen by an all volunteer Board of Directors with administrative support from a hired management company.

Whether you want to serve on the Board of Directors, join one of our standing committees or have a single  passion and project you want to inspire and lead, we encourage and welcome your participation! All Bridlewood residents can be an active part of our community. Board of Directors are elected by the community and must be a homeowner in good standing.
